When a coffee company has been around for over 100 years it might be warranted to try one of its signature blends, the classic New England Coffee Breakfast Blend. In 1916, the New England Coffee Company started in Boston delivering their roasted blends to locals on horse-drawn wagons. Thankfully, in this modern day and age, anyone regardless of if they’re in New England can give this excellent coffee company a try.
The New England Coffee Breakfast Blend is a medium roast consisting of arabica beans from Africa, Central, and South America. The biggest strength and weakness of this blend is that there is nothing particularly unique about it; the breakfast blend features the qualities for brewing a staple, dependable cup that is perfect for helping to wake you up for the day.
There are hints of a slightly nutty flavor but other than that the flavor profile is fairly low meaning it’s great for using as a base coffee to mix in other flavors if that’s your thing. However, the aroma leaved something to be desired and was generally weak. Also, it should be noted that while the coffee is labeled as a medium roast it definitely seemed to be on the lighter side of that spectrum meaning this could be an optimal choice for someone trying to avoid bitter coffee.
Overall, this breakfast blend features a very balanced, basic coffee that is a great choice for an affordable morning brew. Another coffee I previously reviewed, Dunkin’ Donuts Ground Coffee, Original Blend Medium Roast, has a surprisingly similar flavor/strength profile. So, if you’re a fan of Dunkin’s coffee check out New England’s Coffee for a similar experience at a cheaper price point! The price range on this coffee from Amazon is quite phenomenal as I was able to snag a 1.5 lb bag for just over $10.
